Commego F.A.Q

I’ve got a fun idea, how do I create a challenge?
It’s easy! All you have to do is register, if you haven’t already, and sign in. Then choose “create new challenge” from the top menu. This will take you to a selection menu where you can choose the contents of the challenge (quiz, flash game, etc) you’d like to create OR if you’d like to create a new challenge reusing an existing quiz, you can choose that!
Once you’ve chosen the contents of the challenge you’d like to create, you will see a drop down menu, with which you can choose between a one-on-one challenge and a manually configured challenge. Don’t worry if you’re not totally following it- there will be detailed descriptions of each challenge option further down the page.
Once your challenge has been successfully created, it will await approval of the site administrators. Usually this is a speedy process, and the challenge should appear on the site shortly.

What is the difference between a one-on-one challenge and a manually configured challenge?
A one-on-one challenge is used to directly challenge other Commego members. The member you choose to challenge will receive notification of the awaiting challenge and can choose to accept or decline. These challenges are great for earning ego points!
A manually configured challenge is used to challenge multiple members of Commego, friends, and family! In this type of challenge, you can choose the amount of points at stake, the duration of the challenge, the allocation of points to winners, and who gets to vote for the winners. You also have the option of inviting non-Commego members to this type of challenge. There will be a field asking if the challenge is “open to guests”. If you’d like to invite non-Commego members, just select “yes”, and upon challenge completion, you will be given an opportunity to send out invitation links through e-mail and chat. This is a great way to get friends and family involved in the fun spirit of Commego!

Ego points? What’s the difference between those and regular points?
Ego points are a category unto themselves. These points are meant to show what a great addition you are to the Commego community. They are earned by winning one-on-one challenges, donating points, inviting new members…??? So go ahead, feed your ego!!

What happens if I run out of points or my good buddy doesn’t have any left?
To prevent any Commego members from getting shut out from challenges, we’ve created an option for anyone with more than 10 points to donate points. Next to your total points on the upper right-hand corner, you’ll see the hyperlinked word “donate”. Simply click here to select the member you’d like to donate to and the amount of points to be donated. Karma goes full circle- if you donate some points, maybe your buddies will return the favor and donate to you if you get down on your luck. And remember, you will receive an ego point for every point donated. That’s right! If you donate 10 points to another member in need, you’ve get 10 ego points coming your way!

What are teams, and how many can I join?
Teams are a fun way of getting healthy competition going. You can only be an active member of ONE team. In order to change teams, you must first leave your present team and then join your next team. Remember, different internet communities are already automatically ranked, so if you’re a Youtuber, it’d be more fun to join something like the “Car Mechanics” team. This way you’ll be ranked under BOTH the Youtube community AND the Car Mechanics team.

I see a total cash field next to my total points, what’s that all about?
Aha, you’ve figured out that Commego is not all about points! There is the option to deposit cash into your account using paypal. This will allow you to both create and participate in cash challenges. You may also use the cash you have in your account to purchase extra points. It is also very easy to withdraw your cash at any time.
